What a beautiful evening! Simple, but somehow full of everything.

And Pierre, who was handling the sound, had the great idea of recording it. The idea was simply to keep a memory of the evening, so he just plugged a recorder into the output of the mixing desk. Just something he happened to have at hand, recording straight to MP3.

But what a great idea! So simple, yet brilliant.

Because not only do we now have a souvenir of that evening, but it also reminds me that it’s always the good intentions that matter. And that, with a whole series of simple ideas, put together one after another, you can build yourself a pretty wonderful world.

And since the best live albums are often the ones that capture the atmosphere of a great evening, I thought: why shouldn’t we make our own “Live à Féricy”? And why not be proud of it?

Sure, an MP3 recorded straight from the mixing desk isn’t exactly how it’s normally done. But we do things the way we feel like doing them. And there’s no guarantee that even with a thirty-million-dollar mobile studio and an army of engineers, we would have done it any better.

Just like the evening itself: simple, but made with heart.
